meteors for 2023...

Did a quick meteor shower assessment for 2023...

I excluded most low-yield showers, below 20 per hour (ZHR). I kept the Leonids in, as they sometimes exhibit outbursts. And I included the North Taurids due to the near-perfect timing with the new Moon phase.

The "new" and "full" columns refer to the Moon phase at the time of the meteor shower peak.

Happily, the Perseids for 2023 won't be washed out!

And the end of the year looks promising for the Geminids.

Too bad about Quadrantids...

I hope this outlook is useful. The media tends to blow things out of proportion...

Changed my rating for the Orionids from fair to good. The Moon sets around 11:00 PM and in general the best viewing is after midnight. Orion will be rising high around that time in a now Moonless sky.
