sunset viewing (Blue Mountains)

7:22 PM. Viewed Jupiter. First in the 55mm; then in the 10mm!

7:37. Millie joined me in the observatory. Viewed Jupiter. Saw 4 moons, 2 on each side. The pair of moons, with respect to each other, were at the same angle. That was interesting. Two were close; the others were about three times the separation.

Spotted a short but intense Sun pillar in a beautifully coloured sky. But my camera was inside. Ran to the house and asked for help.

I missed it. Boo!

Attached the DSLR to the refractor...

8:46. Finished viewing and imaging comet C/2011 L4 Pan-STARRS. The whole gang viewed it outside.

Phil tried imaging it wide field. Tony was operating the Oberwerk binoculars.

Returned to Jupiter.

8:48. Jen, Bri, Grace, and Millie were all at 'scope. I had to smile.

I checked the outside conditions. -10.3°C. 90% humidity. Oh my.

Break time! Break time with a secret...
