glad I was wrong

Something very satisfying about tonight was learning I was wrong. The comet was visible. Easily spotted.
  • from within city limits
  • with small (7 power) binoculars
  • without magnification, i.e. naked eye
The data we were getting about C/2011 L4 was not terribly inspiring. I had no idea if it was actually going to work...

But the very clear skies (down to the horizon) helped. That the comet did not fragment at perihelion was a good thing. In fact, the comet seemed to brighten a little. Having good sight lines helped. So, there was a dash of luck too.

Still, I was glad friends and fellow RASC members were seeing it.
