Brian caught the comet beside the Moon. Not far from his Thornbury home, during a break in the thick clouds, Brian captured the comet with his mirror-less digital SLR camera.
He said that he spotted the very thin crescent moon without optical aid but I needed his 15x50 binoculars to help locate the comet. It was not easy to see until the sky darkened but it also sank quickly into the thicker atmosphere.

Shot with an Olympus OMD-EM5 camera with a 40-150mm lens at 128mm. f/8.0 at 7 seconds at ISO 400. The camera was on a tripod and he used a cable release.
He said he used the Live Bulb mode. This interesting feature allows one to watch as the exposure develops on screen and then release the shutter.
