With Google Maps, using the Satellite mode and the Street View, I explored some of the nearby parks, looking for good western sight lines. Some candidate spots look like:

• the baseball diamond at the the west end of Lessard Ave, at Halford
• the north edge of Magwood Park, at St Marks Rd and Pasadena
• near Hillside Rd off Colborne Lodge Dr in High Park, overlooking the Hillside Gardens
• and the lake shore parks, of course, like Sunnyside, Budapest, Marilyn Bell

I'll have to visit these local ones...
