hacked head lamp
Hacked Katrina's new LED head lamp. She picked up an inexpensive head lamp with strap that included white and red LEDs. The slider switch to power the unit on had three positions: centre OFF, one way RED on, the other way WHITE on. Katrina liked the light a lot but found it was all too easy to slide from RED, through OFF, into WHITE. Not good in the dark, while observing, while trying to stay dark adapted. Why, they'll burn you at the stake at some star parties if you accidentally turn on a white light! She asked if I could do something about it. I opened it up, easily enough, and found a simple circuit. Grabbed the side cutters and snipped the leg of the white LED. Done. That was easy. Reversible too.
