Moon age

While solar observing in the GBO, I had noticed in TheSky6 software that the Moon was just a little left of the Sun.

I checked TimeAndDate.com to learn exactly when the New Moon had occurred. It reported that lunation 1096 had started on Jul 30 at 6:40 PM UTC. Or 2:40 PM local. Ah. So that meant it was currently less than 24 hours old.

It would be an interesting target tonight...
