bacterium in asteroid

Late Friday, a study was published in The Journal of Cosmology, by astrobiologist Richard Hoover. He proposed that the structures within carbonaceous meteorites were produced by large bacterium and thusly proposed that life is not restricted to the planet Earth.

There is more detail at the Fox News web site. I immediately jumped over to Phil Plait's site to get his thoughts.

These ground-shaking results will need to be analysed by peers. But if true, it will become one of those moments, possibly, where people will say, "Do you remember where you were when we discovered life off Earth?"

I was with good friends, enjoying fantastic food and wine, near a warm fire, on a cold winter night, just north of the Holland Marsh.

I want to believe.

Let the bashing begin.
