Suggested Chris repair his AC power supply for his telescope mount. Heat shrink tape would probably not work. The stripped wires could short. We had all the necessary tools to affect a repair.
He dove in! He separated the glued pieces of the casing. I cautioned his against discharging the large capacitors. He removed the circuit board from the bottom casing. Desoldered the bad wires. I suggested the strain-relief could be reused, if it was slip-fit on the wires. He was able to remove the strain-relief and then reuse it (after boring it out a bit). I inspected his soldering work-it was fine. Checked polarity for him. Good to go.
And for the first time he had infinite power at the Observing Pad.
