For the public open house, I returned the MallinCam and accessories to the CAO.
Got Steve to hook it up. I think he enjoyed the practice. I pointed out the tricks to get it close to the ideal focus in the Tele Vue 101. He pretty well nailed it.
During the evening event, when the clouds allowed, we successfully showed the Moon, M57, M13, M101 with the supernova, and comet Garradd on the LCD monitor in the GBO via the S-video line. Meanwhile, Ralph and Denis did their talks.
When we transitioned from the Moon to the deep sky objects, I had to change the MallinCam Hyper Color settings via the menu on the LCD and the controls on the camera. I followed the cheat sheet and successfully changed the camera's options.
Met Sandy and Al, our neighbours in Loree.
The colour video camera images were quite good, if I may say so. The detail on the Moon was impressive. We saw colour in the Ring Nebula. We watched the comet slowly move!
The MCHC was back from repair and working great!
I flew the 'scope for the evening. Did a bit of talk and guiding.
After the guests left, I turned off the monitor. We tried to view PK64 aka Campbell's Hydrogen Star, the planetary nebula in Cygnus. Personally, I didn't notice anything unusual... Was it very small? Were we off target?
It was a chilly night. Early in the evening, I added 2 layers in around to take off the chill. Felt fine for the rest of the evening. I had two hot chocolates! That helped too!
I was summoned to the house. Wow. Everyone else was inside, warming up. Holy cow. Phil was still up! Thought he turned into a pumpkin...
I was tired. I had felt really good at one point in the evening. Endorphins I'm sure.
