dark matter web

The video from the Bolshoi Cosmological Simulation on APOD is intriguing. It is one of the better visualisations I have seen of the threads or strands interconnecting remote galaxy groups. And I must say, it gives the strongest impression to date, of something I have felt for some time now.

That these long filaments between galaxies reminds me of the interconnected lattice within bone. Which is not unlike the fibrous interconnections of neurons in our brain. And once again this, to me, seems eerily appropriate. Somehow right. Fractals everywhere. Macro to micro. The highest level resembling the lowest level. Dendrites and axons. Solar systems and atoms. Black-eyed Susans and spiral galaxies.
