heard of the collapse

And it's done... The Arecibo Observatory overhead structure collapsed. 

I had a feeling.

It seems the remain cables from one of the towers were strained then let go. That sent the main platform and azimuth arm hurtling down to crash through the spherical dish. 

The three towers, now no longer supporting the central load, succumbed to the lateral forces of the support cables, snapping their tops off.
