checked when DSLR can see them

Loaded up SkyTools to check when Jupiter and Saturn will be close enough to fit in the camera frame, if I hook up the Canon 40D digital SLR (with APS-C sensor).

On the Celestron 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope with external focuser (which alters the focal length slightly)...

Looks like Dec 16 is the magic date... 

And that suggests a 10 day window. Good!
