4:30 AM. I left home to meet Ian. Actually travelled eastward some ways, the opposite direction I ultimately would go.

Rhonda saw me off. It would be a long time...

It was dark and cloudy as I left town. There would be no chance to spot a Perseid meteor, sadly. And soon the sky brightened in the north-east.

5:35. I arrived early which pleased Ian. We transferred my items to the truck cabin and cargo space. They gave me some real coffee.

The road trip proper could begin.
